Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how DivorceAdvisor.ca and its owners and operators (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, disclose, and otherwise handle personal information when you visit DivorceAdvisor.ca (the “Site”) or submit information through it. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.
Important: We are a marketing and lead generation company. A core part of our business is sharing, selling, licensing, brokering, or otherwise transferring the information you submit to third parties — including independent lawyers and law firms — so that they can contact you about legal services. If you do not want your information handled this way, do not submit it through the Site.
1. Information We Collect
- Information you provide: name, email address, phone number, province or location, and any details about your situation that you choose to share when completing a form or requesting a consultation.
- Information collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, referring URLs, approximate location, and interactions with the Site, collected via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
- Advertising and analytics data: identifiers and campaign data from advertising platforms (such as Meta) and analytics providers, which may be combined with the information above.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To connect you with one or more independent third-party lawyers or law firms who may offer a free consultation;
- To share, sell, license, broker, or otherwise transfer your information to partners, affiliates, advertisers, and other third parties for the purpose of contacting you about legal services and related offerings;
- To contact you about your request, including by phone (including autodialed or prerecorded calls), email, and text message;
- To operate, analyze, and improve the Site and our marketing campaigns, including measuring advertising performance;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information with:
- Participating lawyers and law firms who may contact you directly about your request;
- Partners, affiliates, advertisers, and other lead buyers in connection with the sale, licensing, brokering, or transfer of leads;
- Service providers that support our operations (such as form providers, hosting, analytics, and advertising platforms);
- Legal and safety recipients where required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and property; and
- Successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
Once your information is transferred to a third party, that party’s own privacy practices govern its use. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
4. Consent and Withdrawal of Consent
By submitting your information, you expressly consent to the collection, use, and disclosure described in this Policy, including being contacted by us and by third parties by phone (including autodialed or prerecorded calls), email, text message, or other means. Your consent is not a condition of receiving any goods or services.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions, by contacting us or using the opt-out mechanisms below. Withdrawing consent does not affect information already transferred to third parties; to opt out of contact from a specific lawyer, firm, or partner, contact that party directly.
5. Opting Out
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email;
- Text messages: reply STOP to any text message;
- Phone calls: ask to be removed from the caller’s list during any call;
- All other requests (including requests to delete your information or to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information): contact us through the contact options provided on the Site.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our partners use cookies, pixels (including advertising pixels such as the Meta Pixel), and similar technologies to operate the Site, measure and improve advertising, and understand how visitors use the Site. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect Site functionality. Third-party advertising platforms may associate data collected on the Site with your accounts on their services in accordance with their own policies.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
8. Safeguards
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Where Your Information Is Processed
Your information may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where we or our service providers and partners operate. While in another jurisdiction, information may be accessible to that jurisdiction’s courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities under its laws.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law (including PIPEDA and provincial privacy legislation), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and may ask questions or make complaints about our privacy practices. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator.
